Letting the team know that their colleague was fired

Recently I needed to let an employee go. It was hard, I wished we could keep him as he was a great energy to be around but he simply did not reach his KPIs month to month so there wasn’t anything else for us to do but to fire him. Now I’m wondering how to tell our team that he was fired?? Thanks!

@EmilyDickens99 Best thing to do is just be honest with your team. There has to be a level of accountability between the team, especially in industries with heavy KPIs. Although, if I dare ask the question, what did you do help him when he did not reach his KPIs month to month?? I hope he was put on a performance plan, if he was then it will be easier to explain this to the team why he was let go.
